Common Rodents in Northeastern Nevada
Different rodents leave different clues. Here’s what to watch for around your home, business, and landscape.
House Mouse
Small and adaptable, house mice can live close to people wherever they find food and shelter. They can damage belongings and contaminate stored food.
Common Signs
Small droppings, gnaw marks, damaged food packaging, and nests made from shredded materials.
Where to Look
Kitchens, cabinets, garages, storage areas, and concealed spaces near food sources.
House mice have a long association with people partly because we store grains and cereals—foods they readily eat.
Woodrat / Pack Rat
Woodrats are native rodents commonly called pack rats. Their habit of gathering materials and building substantial nests can bring them into conflict with property owners.
Common Signs
Accumulations of sticks and debris, nesting material, droppings, and evidence of chewing.
Where to Look
Sheltered outdoor spaces, woodpiles, sheds, and protected areas around stored equipment.
Woodrats have furry tails. That helps distinguish them from common pest rats, whose tails are scaly and mostly hairless.
Vole
Often called meadow mice, voles have stocky bodies, short tails, and small ears. Their activity usually affects lawns, gardens, and other planted areas.
Common Signs
Narrow runways through grass, small burrow openings, clipped vegetation, and chewing damage near plant bases.
Where to Look
Lawns, garden beds, dense ground cover, and sheltered areas around shrubs and other vegetation.
Unlike house mice, voles usually stay outdoors. Their presence is more often noticed through plant damage and grassy runways.

Our Approach
Our Rodent Control Plan

Property Inspection
We inspect for droppings, gnaw marks, nesting material, and rodent travel routes. We look for likely entry points and food, water, or shelter sources that may contribute to activity.

Targeted Control
Based on our findings, we recommend traps, secured bait stations, or a combination of methods. Follow-up service can include checking devices, removing captured rodents, replenishing bait, and monitoring changes in activity.

Prevention Guidance
We identify gaps and conditions that could allow rodents to return. You’ll receive practical recommendations for sealing entry points, improving storage, managing food sources, and reducing shelter around buildings.
